Ashley Buersmeyer
Dance Instructor
Ashley graduated from Kent State University with a BFA in dance performance. At Kent State, Ashley performed in all faculty and student choreographed concerts. In 2016 Ashley was given the opportunity to perform a self-choreographed solo entitled “Invisible Red Thread” at the American College Dance Association in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She also choreographed two pieces for the Student Dance Festival and BFA Senior Concert at Kent. In 2017, as part of the East Meets West Collaborative Exchange, Ashley traveled to Bangkok and Hua Hin, Thailand for two weeks to perform in two concerts as well as teach an Improvisation into Choreography master class to American and Thai students. She has presented research on the collaboration between American and Thai students within East Meets West at Undergraduate and Graduate Research Symposiums through the university. At the 2017 Undergraduate Symposium, the research group was awarded first place for their poster presentation. Ashley has taken master classes from numerous artists and worked with Cleveland’s The Movement Project in intensives and performances. Ashley was a member of the Kent Dance Ensemble, a pre-professional dance company that performed and provided outreach opportunities in the North-East Ohio area. Ashley is an Adjunct dance professor at Ohio Northern University and will begin her second year teaching at The Arts Center. She is very excited to work with these young, blossoming dancers!
